I am able to provide you with reporting of Cost Basis for securities purchased through my firm, as well as on those you may have purchased prior to working with my firm.
Before I get ahead of myself, let me tell you what Cost Basis is and why having this information is important.
Cost basis is simply a fancy term used to describe what you originally paid for a specific security. And, it's important because should we at some point determine it is a good time to sell a security-the difference between your cost basis and the selling price will impact your taxes.
In addition to the ease this can bring for you or your tax preparer when completing your tax return, it also offers me a more complete picture of your financial situation. Using cost basis ensures that the decisions we make are done so with as much possible knowledge in hand.
With that said - I have all the information I need to track cost basis for the securities you purchased through me, however, to incorporate any information prior to this will require a bit of help from you (please download and complete the attached form).
As always, I hope you are doing well. Feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance in gathering the requested information, or if you have any questions that you would like to discuss.
